Fahad Hussayn's Luxury Pret collection SS'15 at the Telenor Fashion Pakistan Week was a sequel of his previous Dominatrix series shown at the Swarovski Couturier Weekend approx a month ago. That said, the collection preceded with even more bedazzlement and opulence than before, the usual dramatics taking a more lyrical form. I could even hear Lana Del Ray's "Gods & Monsters" at the back of my head while viewing this mythical collection.
Most pieces, though no doubt finely crafted, were a lighter side of what Fahad usually produces. Enticing, hand embroidered silk and metallic thread embroideries paired with delicate SVAROVSKI crystals and floral 3D embellished cutouts, the collection is wearable, elegant and effortless. This time Fahad is chosen to be more real than surreal and that made this collection a success.
The standout pieces in DOMINATRIX-DECODED, worn by Amna Ilyas, Amna Babar and Noorey, were rigorous, the risk-taking matched by terrific technique. The structural, jaw dropping hybrid dresses were like a wrapping around the body with an organic appeal, a sprouting cobwebs of Fahad's signature weaves and jewelry embellishments in a variety of materials.
