This Spring white is the IT color of Fashion week but no one quite interpreted it through design as did Zaheer Abbas. White went from Blah to Wah (Wow). The inspiration was quite rousing on its own, Sandro Botticelli's painting by the name of Primavera (the name of the Collection as well). Zaheer's collection was like a cool breeze which is always welcome in Karachi's hot summers.
The purity of the collection was in its simplicity. White was heightened either through floral, spring infused, prints or gorgeous tailoring partnered with ingenious draping, molded around the models, making them look fluid on the ramp like nymphs welcoming the season that brings life. The vastness of white was broken by the luxe fabrics, silks and chiffons, and the subtle yet mercurial hand embroideries.
The standout piece which created an unstoppable stir was worn by Hira Tareen (above). The fitted crop top with short cape jacket, hand embroidered to poetic perfection. Paired with a well draped and tailored harem pants, with a modern twist. I swear harem pants have never looked so sexy before! The cherry on the top were the "Lust Haves" clutch bags made specially to go with some of the clothes. Drooling was inevitable.
This collection took Zaheer to a level so high it will take a lot of sense and sensibility (and shit loads of creativity and originality) to match that by any other any time soon.
Which piece is your favorite? Do let me know.
