Since the day they launched I have been trying to get my hands on these Maybelline NewYorkMatte Inks. They look so good and I need more lipsticks in my life, always. Lipstick is bae.
Unfortunately, things reach our Country a little after than the actual product launches so we can only wait and hope for them or order from Facebook shops which can sometimes cost a LOT more. Approximately a year later we were finally able to get our hands on these beauties. I love the Matte texture, square tube packaging. Every Lippy exterior suggests the color that it is. Very sleek and minimalist. Wont roll off like the rounder tubes so thats a plus.
Why is this a beauty? It is super long wear and stays for up to 16 hours! wowzers. These come in 10 super saturated shades though I received only two: Pioneer and Believer. I have my eyes on the mauve nude shade LOVER but cant seem to find it anywhere, sigh.
The formula is not creamy it is more of an inky form and applies like a pigmented paint. It is definitely pigmented, the colors are very rich (though I do have a bit of doubt in deeper shades). Even though its light initially it does feel tacky but then dries off quickly. After it sets in approx half a minute the lips feel very smooth and light and are totally transfer proof.
It may flake of around the edges but just a tiny bit and oil based food will effect it naturally but less than expected, but other than that I like the formula and very impressed with it. It is very comfortable and you can wear it throughout the day, tried and tested. The applicator is pointy and easy to use and I didnt need to use any liner. However, the purple one (Believer) did bleed a little.
Overall I think it is a good product. My experience with the red shade: Pioneer, was amazing, I totally loved using it and got so many compliments too. Pioneer is a Deep Red.
Now here is where the doubt comes. I was not at all happy with Believer, a Deep Purple. It was patchy (see photos, bled a bit) and even though I tried to apply twice the color was not consistent and was watery. Not a favorite.
I had extremely good and a bad situation with them so I am just hoping that this pigmentation and patchy issue is maybe with the darker shades only? Have you tried these? Do give me your feedback too!
