It all started with some tea, literally. I was invited to the British High Commission approximately ten days ago for a briefing. John Tucknott, Deputy British High Commissioner, Karachi, explained how important it is to soften the image of Britan and spread positive awareness in different countries, including Pakistan. I agree, media mostly creates a really negative or basic image of other countries which we assume is the real deal, when there is so much more than just that.
The tea was "delightful" with John as well as their Communication Head Madiha Rizki and PR Consultant Moiz Kazmi, taking us through the schedule of general activity they have planned for everyone. “The GREAT Festival is a celebration of what makes Britain great and the connections that tie Pakistan and the United Kingdom so closely together."- John Tucknott.
The BRITAIN is GREAT Fest will be running from the 2nd till the 10th of Oct (I wish they would extend it because people will enjoy it more). You can experience and taste a bit of Britain itself through food, fashion, literature, music and even business forum activities. The GREAT FESTPK was launched on the 2nd of October at Dolmen Mall Clifton, Karachi with a Fashion Presentation showcasing both Pakistani and British Brands. It was curated by Maheen Khan and presented in fusion form; mixing up brands through styling instead of just on brand showcasing per presentation.
The fashionistas are aware of the famous British brands which are now also available in Pakistan, especially Karachi.
The High Street brands at the festival launch were Debenhams (my favorite), Gul Ahmed, Ideas Pret, Jafferjees, FHS by HUB, Accessorize, Clarks and Next, Deepak Perwani and Gulabo The hairstyling partner for the fashion show was TONI&GUY.
The festival is active at the moment. For shopping and books you can visit Dolmen Mall Clifton, Karachi and for food you can check out Avari Towers, Karachi.
