Pakistan Fashion Week Doha 2015 - MARIA RAO

Maria Rao, new to the ramp but not to fashion, recently showcased her luxury pret collection "MARIPOSA" in Pakistan Fashion Week Doha Season 2. The designer's collection was full of boisterous glam, inspired by the butterfly, as the name suggests.

Maria has been designing since she was very young. With over 10+ years of experience the self taught designer decided its finally time to hit fashion week, starting with PFWDOHA 2015. The MARIPOSA collection, an ode to summers by the butterflies, is a mix of poetry which has been remixed into something more vibrant.

“Since I was a little girl I have been mesmerized by not only the beauty but the life that this delicate creature adds to nature. Even flowers, to me, are like propelled butterflies which makes the bond between the two even greater”, Says Maria Rao.

The collection consists of western attires, however, can be worn with ease by most women without worrying about showing too much skin. The collection comprises mainly of jumpsuits, skirts and gowns with the choice of fabric being silk, chiffon and georgette. The polka dotted fabric was further textured with appliqued floral prints, embroidered and then embellished with dabka and beads. 

The clothes were a perfect balance of complex with basic. Comfort was apparent as well as fluidity. Every piece, tops and bottoms, can be worn as separates as well, making this collection quite flexible.

Maria also used her signature intricate chain work, which she has been using in her clothes since long time back, in some clothes.

PFWDOHA was Maria's first Fashion show but certainly not her last. Watch out for more of her in the future.
