I have been a fan of Samyang's Buldack Spicy Chicken noodles for years but wanted to add all variant reviews on my website as well. Already reviewed the first black Samyang Spicy hot chicken noodles. Now comes the 2x Spicy ones. Will they burn like the 1st one or will they be even more deadly?
The Samyang 2x Spicy Hot Chicken Noodles are the most famous variant in Pakistan other than the Pink Carbonara variant. I never understood that. Let me explain why in a bit.
The Samyang noodles come with a thick brick of noodles along with a packet of not so generous garnish of sesame seeds and seaweed flakes along with a packet of liquid spicy seasoning. This was the first time I had come across liquid seasoning when eating instant ramen. Also would like to point out for those who are super careful about the food they eat, this is Halal certified by the HACCP.
Ingredients: noodles(76.7%): wheat flour (52%), tapioca starch (12%), palm oil (11%), wheat gluten, salt, soybean oil, water, E501, E500, E339, E452, E330, E412, E322, E101.
Cooking is simple, as usual. Boil noodles for 3 to 5 minutes, I prefer mine chewy. Drain boiled noodles, mix the sauce in and garnish with seaweeds and sesame seeds and you are ready to burn.
The Samyang 2x Spicy Hot Chicken Noodles are definitely hotter. They pack extra heat and my lips were burning way more than expected. The first time I tried these I literally felt a bit dizzy but now I am quite used to the flavour. This variant, however, is not my favourite. why? well it is definitely mid blowing, heat packed, mouth-numbing hot but it lacks flavour. I don't mind spicy and hot food, I love it actually. However, everything should have enough flavour to be enjoyed, hot or not.
I don't buy these now. I prefer other variants which I love and soon will be posting reviews about those as well.
Do you know why these noodles are so hot and spicy? This particular range has mixed capsaicin in its liquid seasoning. Capsaicin is the extract of the chemical found in chillies that creates a burning, numbing sensation. The chemical itself has zero flavours. Therefore, the added heat and numbness we feel when eating these noodles is thanks to capsaicin.
