I love noodles and I love cheese so obviously any noodle that says Cheese flavoured I gotta try it out of curiosity. Now to be honest soupy cheese may not sound that tempting to many but being a hopeless ramentic I still gave this a go.
Ottogi is a South Korean Brand and I have tried quite a few variants from them. The Ottogi Cheese Ramen contains the ramen noodle block and three packets: A cheese powder, a soup base and one of the dehydrated veggies. Now I honestly don't know why most instant noodle brands give a pinch of garnish or veggies when clearly most of us would prefer more so guys please take note of this!
For preparation, you do the usual boiling of water and then add the noodles and the dehydrated veggies. I prefer the noodles to be firm rather than goey (don't know why most Pakistanis prefer that, eww) so I make sure I check. The instructions on the pack, as per my experience, should only be taken as a basic reference otherwise try to check on things as per your taste and preference.
After a minute of noodles boiling, I add the soup base as well. I cook till noodles are done as per my liking. When the noodles look done I transfer the noodles and soup to a bowl and then top it with the cheese powder.
Chow time, let's begin. I first took a sip of the soup broth. It definitely has the richness of the cheese while not being overwhelming but also has a little spicy heat which is subtle, not a lot. The creamy texture with a spicy kick is pleasant, the flavour is tasty for sure and not watery which I was a bit afraid it might be. The noodles were firm and springy while pairing well with the cheese broth. They were the thicker kind and chewy which most Korean noodles are like. Overall, a delightful combo and very light too so you can definitely add some extra veggies and meat if you want.
I received Ottogi Cheese Ramen as a gift from a friend who returned from his trip from Thailand (my friends know me too well!) but Amazon states that a pack of 4 costs $11.99.
Now for those of you interested in purchasing you can easily ask on Facebook groups like Packr if anyone is coming from America and get these for you and then share the Amazon link with the ones who show interest or, like me, ask family members who are visiting if you are lucky :)
