Aaah, my lips were twitching and my fingers itching because it's been too long since I have blogged about my most favorite beauty product, lipsticks! In fact, due to my crazy work schedule in April I have been MIA and didn't blog at all, boohoo!
So, I am going to get back into the blogging groove with my recent infatuation, the Rouge Velvet Edition lipsticks by BOURJOIS ( I keep forgetting how to pronounce it and I am ok with that!). Read on to know why these beauties made me want to keep smacking my lips over and over again.
I have been eyeing these for eons, literally...ok not so literally but withholding temptation for lipsticks does feel like that to me. I got these two as a surprise gift from a friend, bless her.
The packaging is simple but the chubby, rectangular tube does stand out from most liquid lipsticks, therefore, easy to identify. Overall, simple yet sleek looking tube that holds sass. The shade tinted cap is also quite close to the actual color.
The BRAND Claims:
"Its soft, melting texture glides on to the lips and turns into a matte, velvety and incredibly light color. Lips are left smooth and soft as velvet. Enriched with evanescent oils, it’s incredibly sensuous formula provides a soft, second-skin feel, without drying or fading lips."
This a nude shade, with a bit of a pink undertone, gives your lips a really fresh look even with such a pale color.
A deliciously bright fuschia shade which looks good even in day time. Add a flicked winged liner and you are ready to set hearts on fire!
AVAILABILITY & COST:
My friend bought these from a local makeup store Vicky's Cosmetics for approx PKR.1250 but it is available in most makeup stores in Pakistan as well as Online across the world as well.

My EXPERIENCE:
- Comes in 9 diverse, juicy shades. Even the nude-ist shade makes your lips gush-worthy
- Lightweight, creamy formula that becomes matte after application (takes a bit of time to dry though)
- Doe-tip applicator, always great for Liquid Lipsticks
- Opaque and very pigmented, especially the darker shades
- One coat is good to go and layering won't get messy or flaky either
- Non-drying (however, always a good idea to exfoliate and hydrate your lips beforehand)
- Smells like . . . Wine :p
- They maybe super resistant but not completely long wear like they claim for 24hours. You will need to reapply. From experience, I don't need to reapply for a good 5 hours depending on what I am eating or drinking, can go longer without eating, drinking or biting/chewing lips
- Not 100% smudge proof and can come off a bit on glass etc
- Smooth, velvet finish, literally. Your lips will feel like soft, velvet cushions, no kidding
- Leaves a stain when fading, I like that actually

DeleteHi, I am very much into nude shades and since my favourites, YSL #70, Dior #640, Dior #459, Urban Decay Liar and MAC Cosmo are on the expensive side so I am always on the lookout for slightly cheaper alternatives, as long as the quality is good of course, so I will definitely check out Velvet #9 :-) Anyway, thanks a lot for the wonderful review :-)
