I have already spread the lovely news earlier this year that THE BALM has officially launched in Pakistan. This means instant gratification instead of waiting for the products to arrive after weeks and weeks of sufferable waiting through Facebook shops, Yaas! I was sent some samples to test by them so here you go.
The Balm is a fun, whimsical brand with many cult products under its banner. The quirky, yet cheeky, packaging and advertising makes every makeup beauty's heart tingle. It's always an add-on when your product looks as fun as it is, totally gets brownie points from me. I got some samples of their blushes and bronzers as well as an eyeliner so finally let go of my laziness (rare case) and tested these out.
My EXPERIENCE:
Other than the full-size eyeliner crayon I also got four mini samples of assorted blushes, bronzers and highlighters. They are the ideal size to take along when traveling, saves a lot of space.
The Balm is known for its blushes, highlighters and bronzers , amongst other things. They are really pigmented and buttery. I already own Marylou Manizer and Bahama Mama (my favorite). The mini samples I received are great for testing before getting the real deal as well as an ideal travel size.
BALM DESERT:
This a Bronzer/Blush. It is a medium tan shade with slightly pink undertones ideal. It will give a very natural bronzing/contouring to your face I prefer the Bahama Mama over this. Contains slight shimmer as well.
- Pigmented
- Blendable
- Long wear
- Full size retails at $21 (PKR.3,075 in Scentsation Outlets)
FRAT BOY:
This can be used as a Shadow or a Blush. It is a matte coral pink which is lighter in tone and blends into a fresh, flushed look.
- Pigmented
- Blendable
- Not super long wear
- Full size retails at $21 (PKR.2,695 in Scentsation Outlets)
HOT MAMA:
A Shadow/Blush with some burnt orange hues and shimmer. This can glam up your summers and the shimmer is not overbearing either. Can pair well as highlighter with Bahama Mama.
- Pigmented
- Blendable
- Not super long wear
- Full size retails at $20 (PKR.2,835 in Scentsation Outlets)
INSTAIN (SWISS DOT):
A long wear blush that gives a stain like effect to create a natural look. The shade I got was Swiss Dot which is a rich, deep peach shade and very, very potent, thus require proper blending. Instain is definitely more pigmented than the rest three I tested.
- Very Pigmented
- Not easily blendable
- Long wear
- Full size retails at $22 (PKR.2,835 in Scentsation Outlets)
AVAILABILITY:
The Balm products are available online for most countries. In Pakistan it is currently present in select Scentsation outlets (Pakistan) and will be available nationwide soon in Pakistan. You can check the following for The Balm updates:

THE BALM -MR RIGHT NOW EYELINER in BRIAN B. BEIGE:
The BRAND Claims:
"We have a Mr. Write (Now) for every day of the week... and then some! Meet this new collection of attractive eyeliners that are truly easy on the eyes. These pencils deliver the long-lasting color you've been looking for, and have built-in sharpeners so they are always ready when you are. With high payoff, eight wearable shades, and a satin smooth texture, we understand why your eyes wander- but rest assured, your eyeliner won't!"
Just reading about this product made me excited, ha! When I got this light shade I felt a bit "meh", a darker more exciting shade would have been better, no? However, then it dawned on me that this is a perfectly natural shade for eye brightening as well as for outlining my face with details during face painting (Yes, I have started doing that properly end last year and LOVING it).
My EXPERIENCE:
- Love love love the packaging. The outer box with the comic strip and text-ure as well as the easy twist up eye liner pencil. Definitely prefer these over the ones that need constant sharpening
- This eyeliner crayon requires sharpening of tip as well and comes with a cute sharpener that is on the bottom end of the pencil which you can pull out (silly me forgot to take photo, blah!
- Comes in 8 different shades, the one I got is Brian B. Beige
- Brian B. Beige is, well, a "beige" shade which is almost like your skin tone if you are medium skin toned, Asian skin actually, like mine
- Glides on easily on your lids as well as waterline
- Doesn't irritate which is a blessing for my super sensitive eyes
- Smells funny, just joking. I don't know what it smells like, I didn't feel like shoving the pencil up my nose
- Long wear but you can clean it off easily
- Doesn't smudge easily (but it does when you forget you have makeup on your eyes and rub like an insane person, it WILL get ruined so be careful!)
- Retails at $17 in USA and PKR.2,175/- in Pakistan (Scentsation Outlets)
