When it comes to perfume, I prefer something floral with an intense woody base note. In summer, I even like the smell of freshly cut grass or rain. When I got the new fragrance EDP (Eau de Parfum), Black Musk, from The Body Shop, it took some time to finally grasp the scent. Is it a good mix of sweet and fierce as it claims?
The BLACK MUSK from The Body Shop (TBS) is a more intense version of it's predecessors; White Musk (1981) and Red Musk
(2014). The composition is developed by perfumers Cécile Matton and Ralf Schwieger of Mane.
The fragrance does have a tantalizing appeal yet it lacks the fierceness that is expected, however, still delightful, smooth and spicy.
The packaging is sexy, black with fuschia pink detailing through the label. That sure gives it that mysterious yet sweet appeal.
The composition of the fragrance is not overwhelming which I like. It is sweet but doesn't get sickly and smoothens out further at the base note.
TOP NOTE: The compositions starts off as fruity with pear, bergamot and pink pepper. You can smell a bit of zest there too.
MIDDLE NOTES: The pear lingers through the middle note, at least for me, further intensifying with heliotrope, which varies between marzipan and almond, and interspersed with ylang-ylang and delicious notes of licorice.
BASE NOTE: The end notes are my favorite. Sweet, sensous black vanilla infused with musk, earthy patchouli, vetiver. further ending with that slight chocolaty note.
This scent is actually quite perfect for festive winters because its delicious and dark at the same time. I tried the EDP and found the fragrance more intense than the oil, but it depends on your personal preference.
The blend is available in 50 ml EDP (PKR.6,070/-) and 20 ml perfume oil (PKR3,510) forms. The BLACK MUSK Fragrance is available in all The Body Shop outlets across Pakistan (and Globally). You can get more updates from the FACEBOOK page.

"The idea was to explore the darker side of musk. We wanted to create a gentle juxtaposition between light and dark elements to find a contrasted sensuality." - Cécile
"We wanted to express the sensual nature of musk, that fantastic element that tickles your curiosity and make you want to come closer." - RalfThe perfumers, as well as the brand, boasts about the alluring sweetness of the fragrance which has a darker side to it due to the woody and musk notes.
