I have been hearing so much about SERENITY, the shade Manny MUA developed with Gerard Cosmetics, that my ears were on the brink of popping. To get the curiosity out of my system, I finally ordered Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in SERENITY and tried it. Am I going to put it in my "Favorite Lip Products" stash?
I totally adore Manny MUA. He is talkative, whimsical and just plain gorgeous. As far as Gerard Cosmetics is concerned I have been eyeing them for quite a while too. When I found out that they ship to Pakistan and I can order using my Visa Debit card, didn't hesitate and immediately placed an order. Kaching!
When liquid lipsticks became a trend I didn't know that will grow into a major lip love for me (and so may others). Every brand is coming up with their own liquid matte lip colors, Gerard didn't back down either.
SERENITY is a color that was created by Manny MUA in collaboration with Gerard Cosmetics, after he got inspired by "Sailer Moon", a Japanese anime. I may not watch that [articular anime but the fact that it is one (Big anime fan alert!), I felt a bit excited.
- The packaging is chic with frosted tube and gold top handle. The frostiness gives it a very alluring appeal.
- The shade Serenity, as per Manny, is a warm pink with a hint of brown. This nude shade is unique, not blah and will look beautiful on almost everyone. The shade may differ on every skintone. It is less brown and more pinkish on my lips
- The formula is a bit confusing. A liquid cream but not thick rather with a more ink-like consistency
- The doe tipped sponge applicator glides on lips easily
- Applies as liquid and then dries to matte. The drying part takes a little longer than I expected. (FYI: DONT press your lips together or touch them when lipstick is drying, it can get sticky and product can come off)
- Light on lips, not cakey and didn't feel dry (always a good idea to prep lips before applying any matte lipstick)
- Longwear and doesn't bleed. Not a 24hr lipstick but I am sure you are not planning to sleep in this
- Rich in pigmentation and just one swipe gives great color payoff
- Smells pleasant
Overall I am satisfied with this liquid lippy though I hope they fix the formula slightly and make it quick drying. I am crazy about experimenting with all shades of lipsticks, however, when it comes to nudes I prefer something not too basic. Serenity is definitely one of those wow nudes for me.
AVAILABILITY & COST:
Gerard Cosmetics is available online and they ship worldwide. You can use credit or debit card, whatever you are comfortable with. The Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks cost $20 but I bought it during Manny's promotion so I ended up getting it for $11 only!
