It was very hard indeed to short-list just a few because this Ramzan was full of delightful collections by many designers, it's never a dull moment even in the holy month. High street brands like Sapphire, AlKaram and others keep releasing collections which are mostly favorable in every season and occasion, but very few designers release good, retail-friendly collections.
ZAHEER ABBAS:
Zaheer Abbas made a more retail-friendly version of his infamous "Primavera" collection that he showcased in the previous Fashion Week. He took the core design concept, mashed together an array of whimsical prints which look elegant as well as wearable due to the simple straight cuts. The PRINTOLOGY collection was sold out even before I reached the exhibition (and I was apparently on time). Apart from the super affordable pret collection there were luxury pret options of embroidered lace finish and embellished mesh technique in beautiful pastels. The outfits start from PKR.5,000 and are available in Ensemble Karachi as well as ONLINE.
SANAM CHAUDHRI:
Like Zaheer, Sanam Chaudhri utilized the fabrication techniques of her ZINGARA collection in her Eid showcase. The outfits were a beautiful fusion of delicious lace, cutwork and chikan floral motifs, further transformed through beaten nakshi patterning as well as resham. Some oroginal pieces from the Zingara collection were also present. Embroidered, sophisticated ready to wear cotton essentials in bright festive colors were spotted. You can get this collection from ENSEMBLE, or further check on Sanam Chaudhri's FACEBOOK page.
WARDHA SALEEM:
Wardha is full of surprises. From creating couture pieces to experimental eccentrics, she can also be completely traditional with a modern twist, proven by her current uber chic Eid Collection. The palette, unconventional embroideries and intricate block prints were similar to what she used in her Fashion Week collection "THE LOTUS SONG", however, she stuck to basics in terms of cuts and silhouettes. The collection offers luxury-pret and formal wear. Her collection is available at ENSEMBLE Karachi, LABELS Islamabad and FPL Lahore. For more information, you can inquire on her FACEBOOK page.
AAMNA AQUEEL:
Aamna is one of the smartest designers I know. She is definitely business savvy and caters to the needs of all kinds of fashionistas. You want something traditional, contemporary or over the top, she will provide all. This was the case even with her diverse EID collection where gorgeous graphic silk printed tops were spotted along with dazzling embellished outfits. The best part? Despite of being designer wear the pricing was pocket-friendly with many generously embroidered or embellished outfits retailing at approximately PKR 9,000/- You can place queries on her FACEBOOK page.
NIDA AZWER:
Nida's collection struck a sweet cord in my heart. She did a beautiful job by NOT restricting to safe and simple cuts and actually executed playful silhouettes and forms in her EID collection. The collection feels fresh and definitely stands out from the rest in the market due to her bold decision of going all out with a sophisticated flare. The outfits are an enchanting mix of print and embroidery with wonderful form play of modern with Kimono style tops, coat shirts and let's not ignore the dhoti shalwar comeback. You can inquire further on her FACEBOOK page.
