Sana Safinaz has turned into a fashion power house Conglomerate with multiple talent working under the same roof and producing brilliance. Ather Hafeeez, now working as one of the creative designers at Sana Safinaz, presented the Boho-Chic Beach collection at the recent FPW A/W'14. The overall collection was inspired by the beloved "French Beach" of Karachi and started out Bollywood style with dramatic band playing live music. Did that keep the foot tapping?
BOHO, another theme which keeps on inspiring many and never gets boring. Every fashionable woman, no matter how poised and proper her taste is, dreams of stepping into the fierce, free spirited, footloose bohemian soul.
Ather Hafeez's Boho Chic collection was immersed in sensuality through forms, dipped in a potpourri of mouthwatering colors and prints, accentuated through layering and embroidery. The sense of texture was highlighted with print on print and draping techniques while keeping the balance intact. That creates an easy on the eyes feel. There was an array of prints like Ikkat, chundri-like patterns, desi florals and geometrical patterns. The Sana Safinaz calligraphic logo was a nice touch.
Mixing print on print can be disastrous and overwhelming but Ather Hafeez cleverly utilized the Print clash trend by merging different styles, prints, fabrics and colors, creating a platter of Kitsch delights. The pieces as a whole may not be practical but work well as separates if worn smartly in real life, off the ramp.
The styling was full of chuncky, beady accessories, taking the whole bohemian theme up a notch. The collection was a Bohemian Rhapsody, indeed, however many felt this collection was more suited for spring/summer perhaps. I think a little spunk of color in winters is always welcome. Don't you?
