I am not very easily impressed with "Desi Couture" because most of the time they all look the same to me. So when my eyes pop with excitement and I drool a little after seeing a bridal couture piece(s) that means they have made an impact! Shamaeel Ansari is an icon in the Pakistan Fashion Industry and nothing short of brilliance is expected from her....and she delivers every time.
On a lovely, Friday summer, evening Shamaeel Ansari showcased her latest Bridal / Vintage couture to a select few. It was a delightful, well planned, beautiful setup, hosted by her as well as Ponds. Shamaeel is one of Pond's Spokesperson and I must say a great choice too. Ponds selects inspiring individuals as their spokes persons and then when the branches are extended these beautiful ladies further chose a few more impactful individuals to carry the torch of inspiration forward.
However, that evening Shamaeel's Artistic pieces were the ones that left a bigger impact. I was truly mesmerized <3 The made-to-order formal collection was a diverse array of long coats, angarkas, long shirts as well as Sari's with heavily worked blouses. It had a sprinkle of nostalgia as well as a dash of timelessness and sort of reminded me of Chugtai Paintings. The embroidery, mainly consisting of dabka, marori kaam (and I think I spotted gotaa and cutwork too) in vintage gold, intricately detailed and breathtaking. The choice of fabric for the pieces was mostly Silk, Chiffon, Georgette, Jamavaar and Palachi. The color palette was very rustic and rich and the reds were to dies for.
This Collection is something all bride-to be should go check out and their family should tag along! You never know what you may fall in love with! The vintage bridals start from Approx 150k.
It was a simple, yet profound, evening that was well spent <3 PR and Marketing was managed by GolinHarris Pakistan for PONDS and the internal Shamaeel Tean (Marium Fahad) for The Exhibition. The event was attended by socialites, journalists, fashion bloggers and other designers.
Go check out Shamaeel Ansari's Facebook Page if you are curious and hungry for more :)
