One of the things that you enjoy while travelling is not just exploring the sights or shopping but also the FOOD. I know that Nihari, Daal Chawal and Biryani might be considered exotic for foreigners when they visit our country. I felt the same about the food in Malaysia. I am quite experimental with food and drinks so I never had issues with newfound fruit or dish (unless there are insects involved, bleh!).

Teh Tarik - a mixture of tea, brewed directly in milk with sugar, similar to our local Doodh Patti, with a slightly stronger and spicier taste. My entire family fell in love with it. This tea is available in instant ready sachets so we brought back some (damn it now I am craving some!)

Exotic Fruits - Amongst other things, I miss the fresh fruits readily available in Malaysia. In shops, in Malls, in streets. Freshly cut or as a whole. I tried Water apple, Durian (yes the smelly one), Kiwi, Mangoes (ours are better), Guava (juicy & crunchier without seeds), Papaya (Sweet and better than ours), Watermelon, Pineapple (fresh, without syrup, easily available) and last but not the least my favourite Dragon fruit. I just couldn't get enough of this delicious fruit. I went crazy. I not only tried the fruit itself but, Dragon fruit shake, smoothies, ice creams and sorbets. It was LOVE at first bite!

Green Tea Ice Cream
- Yes it is Green Tea and it was surprisingly good as well as refreshing and let's not forget the healthy part. It didn't taste bitter at all but does have a leafy aftertaste.

The above is a Steam Boat stall. I had boiled/steamed Cuttlefish and Fishballs dipped in different sauces. a steamboat/hotpot / shabu shabu has a wide range of fresh foods such as meat, seafood, fish balls, vegetables, quail eggs, etc. placed on little skewers. The food of your choice is dipped into a boiling chicken broth / tom yum broth and cooked according to your preference. You can top it with your favourite sauces and enjoy! FRESH!

And now the best of all, my Sister-in-law Nazreen's cooking. That woman can cook anything. She is multi-talented and I love her to bits. She made me fall in love with Tofu all over again!
After writing this post I feel like going back to Malaysia and eating all this food...sigh! Till next time
