Last weekend was quite eventful. It was the weekend before Eid-ul-Fitr so every shopping Bazaar and Mall were packed with frantic shoppers (it will be traffic till Chaand Raat!). I was invited to a bunch of stuff but it gets crazy at work during Holiday season so I ended up going to just a few. Event Hopping is not yet my thing yet...not aggressively at least. To top it off it was raining heavily that day. That didn't stop me.
First stop was Deepak Perwani's New Store Launch in Dolmen Mall, Clifton. This was his 4th flagship store in Karachi and 5th countrywide.
The main reason for of excitement for this store launch was to go have a look at the Frida Kahlo collection because I did not get a chance to see it up close till now.
I didn't dress up too much (rain risk!), makeup was basic and waterproofed (unless you consider red lips as umm not too basic hehe) and chose my accessories accordingly as well.
Shirt: Maria Rao. Bag: Relic. Lips: Ruby Woo by MAC (Recent Love). Nails Maybelline Color Show in Sweet Clementine. EYE Shadow MUA Undress me Pallete. EyeLiner: Barry M's WINK Eye Marker (recent Love). Mascara: Maybelline Colossal kajal
Face: Garnier BB Cream
The shop was a mix of modern and futuristic, squared spaces with metal finish shelves and funky, grid top lighting. The space was comfortable and bright (good when you really need to know what you are buying. I am not for moody lighting in retail outlets!)
The Frida Kahlo Collection (which I have raved about too many times) was transformed into loose fitted eastern tops.Other Luxury pret apparels consisted of semi formal, sophisticated kurtas, loose fitted trendy tunics, elegant kurtas and flowy satin silk dresses.
Amongst the apparels were his signature Frida Kahlo inspired scarves, bags and Clutches. My friend got be an early birthday gift in the form of a DP clutch. Yaay!
Overall the Store Launch was subtle yet refreshing.Pr & Marketing was handled by Catalyst.
Amongst many other event worth mentioning (and fitting into the Kitschy category) was Wardha Saleem's Eid collection and Tapulicious bags exhibited in Labels. It was an event on its own but the collection was worth a visit (considering my love for surreal, quirky prints as well as color!).
Wardha's Eid Collection consisted of the Extension of the Doodle Junction line she showed at the Fashion week and so did Tapu's Bags. There was an addition to his signature surreal, kaleidoscopic, digital montage-finish bags though. He played around more with material and layering on the clutches as you can see in one of the image below.
The evening was quite eventful due to the rain. Ended up going for fresh juice and then Nihari Inn on Boat Basin, Karachi with Friends. A great end to a rainy, colorful weekend.
