I may have taken too long to write about my favourite instant soupy noodles. Nonghim's Shin Ramyun Gourmet Spicy flavour is definitely my number one and I have been eating them for years but finally expressing my love in words today. If you want to taste something closest to the authentic Ramen then this is it!

You may argue about which instant noodles are the best as taste is subjective. One may love Indomei, the other Samyang, but here I am, sharing why I feel that Shin Ramyun may be the king.

Nongshim, a South Korean brand, first introduced noodles in the 1980s. Each instant noodle variant they launched is still loved and grows in our hearts. Turning the focus back to Shin Ramyun, the instant noodles were introduced in 1986 in cups and packets. I have been consuming them for over a decade and bless the person who first brought them to Pakistan!

The shiny, red packet has an appealing and eye-catching design. The best thing is that the Halal versions have a sign to clarify and inform us right in the front (can you see it?!). Each Shin Ramyun packet contains:

  1. The generous portion of instant noodles is round compared to the usual square ones in other brands. This makes it easier to fit into pots without breaking them. I DONT like breaking my noodles because the slurping is enjoyable.
  2. Dehydrated vegetables and I feel that their portion is more generous than any other brand.
  3. Seasoning packet

HOW TO EAT SHIN RAMYUN

Well what do you know, you can eat these noodles without boiling as well! Crush the noodle cake, add seasoning and share it up to mix and enjoy it as a snack. This can be done with most instant noodles but I never enjoyed it with others. However, Shin Ramyun tastes good as a crunchy snack. as well.

For boiling, I prefer adding seasoning with the dehydrated vegetables as well as the noodle cake because the flavour absorbs better in the noodles. I boil enough to let the noodles stay chewy, gooey noodles are disgusting.

Nongshim has one of the best instant noodles. Savoury and very close to the fresh ramen noodles. The stringy, chewy texture is what I enjoy the most and the thickness is also not too thin or thick.

We cannot deny how rich and flavourful the broth tastes. It hits all the good spots, sigh. Just the perfect balance of umami flavours and spices. The spice level is higher than normal with a delicious peppery taste as well as a hint of garlic.

If you ever get these noodles please get the Korean version. The American version is not good as it had really dusty tasting noodles and there is no depth in the broth. Tastes awful.

I get Shin Ramyun from a local grocery store called Paradise whenever it is available as well as Amazing Thai. It is also available on Amazon.
