AMMARA KHAN - Luxury Pret Trunk Show

Since AMMARA KHAN's debut in PLBW2014 I have been eyeing her work even more. When her recent exhibition invite popped in my mail even the sore throat and flu couldn't keep me away from visiting the Trunk Show at ENSEMBLE where she showcased her Luxury Pret line "The Winter Palace: A Celebration of the Russian Tsarina" along with other exquisite bridal couture pieces.

I found the focus on embellishment detailing quite bold. There was a very fine line between beautiful and gaudy but the collection never once failed to catch attention. The pieces were not only well crafted in the front but the backs were equally impressive and detailed.

The Luxury Pret line drew inspiration from the opulent lifestyles of Russian Royalty. The use of impeccable craftsmanship and technique is as clear as crystal. The bejeweled apparels are crafted with silver and gold thread, embellished with crystals, semi-precious stones and lustrous pearls. The color palette is quite wintery and feature hues such as rich gold, silvers, soft pastels, amber, taupe, Prussian blues, coral and ivory. USe of lace, organza, silk and other rich fabric was noticeable.

Despite the heavy embellishment the dresses held an ethereal lightness. It was a delightful experience to go review this collection and meeting the designer, Ammara Khan, who is one of the most modest person I have ever come across. Ammara's collection is currently available at Ensemble Dubai/Karachi and at the label’s studio in Lahore.
